IF THE CARBON CAP FITS

Hmm a little thing to remind the carbon neutral freaks so convinced of their facts that are notig of the kind.

Before long we may actually be in shortage of carbon, would you actually believe?

The reason for this I have covered previously and that involves what is in essence a two dimensional material called Graphene. It is referred to as 'two dimensional' because it is comprised of carbon that is compressed so that it is, in fact, one atom thick. When it is compressed into this thickness it foregoes a change in its structure that becomes like that of a honeycomb. A six sided two dimensional structure that we already know is stronger than your average structure when formed in any other way.

I guess we should have paid more attention to Bees and their Hives, eh?

To give you an idea of the importance of this material I will first explain a couple of things and the very, very first thing should be really, really obvious.

First off .. carbon, as many should already know, is very light anyway. Graphite is what makes up the writing element of your average pencil. Everyone knows that this is very light.

Soo .. if it is spread so that it a single atom think .. how much would you need to consider a section as 'heavy' in weight? My guestimate would be a hell of a lot of it, or a very big piece of it.

  • Except Graphene is 200 times stronger than steel

Now imagine the amount of weight of your average spacecraft, like the Space Shuttle for instance?

Imagine how thick the materials must be with every cubic mm of it somewhat heavier than the same amount of Graphene. Except at only one atom thick you need a hell of a lot less of it. So the weight savings and therefore fuel savings would be .. astronomical, pardon the pun.

A breakthrough along similar lines as Graphene and you really will see things change in ways that you could never possibly imagine.

As of right now once they have mastered the application of Grapehene when it comes to both spacecraft and rocket panelling and .. the solar system will become a much smaller place to visit and explore.

Imagine then a breakthrough in propulsion technology and the sky, quite literally, is the limit.

Let us try a few more ..

  • Not only is the world's first two dimensional material but is a million times smaller than the human hair
  • It is electrically and thermally conductive
  • It is transparent

Due to these other qualities a number of of technologies can capitalise on this new wonder material once it has been fully controlled in its applications ..

ELECTRONICS ..

  • Improves touch-screens for phones and tablets
  • Making circuitry for computers to enable them to be a great deal faster
  • Wearable Technology
  • Graphene Transistors, they have created the world's smallest, and Semiconductors that conduct electricity at room temperature

ENERGY ..

  • Graphene applied to batteries could dramatically increase the life while holding more power and for longer which is seriously needed with phones, tablets ad even e-cigarettes or vape kits to name just two
  • Super-capacitors will provide a lot more power for far less energy while making things like trucks, cars, motorbikes and even aircraft save weight

SENSORS ..

  • Food packaging that can detect a change in the atmosphere to alert buyers of whether the food has gone off .. preventing illnesses
  • Chemical changes on a molecular level, ideas still pending
  • Monitor crops for harmful gasses
  • Detection of chemical warfare

COMPOSITES & COATINGS ..

  • A little ow what I started out with on Graphene in this post ..
  • Materials coated in this makes it 200 times stronger then steel, like your average push-bike suddenly a lot easier to pedal up a hill, for instance
  • Completely rust free cars and boats .. not needing to be replaced anywhere near as quickly
  • Applied to bricks to weatherproof houses ..
  • Stop transfer of water to food causing food to go off
  • Waterproof housing
  • Some stuff about sport .. tennis rackets and such like, lol

Above al it is green .. well it seems and so they claim. Let us hope so to shut up the carbon preachers.

MEMBRANES ..

  • Membranes that can be created for all sorts of liquids and also gasses and I imagine the applications for this alone are endless

BIOMEDICAL ..

  • After all that .. we move onto .. potentials fr biomedical applications
  • Umm a whole bunch of medical things I cannot fully predict right now as my knowledge in medical science is limited, more than most outside the world of medicine but still .. limited

I do not know how long it will take to see these things or even if I will live long enough to see any of them. Sometimes I hope I do .. other times I am not quite so sure on that one.

After what has been a number of rough weeks that I still do not see an end to currently I suddenly got into the need to try and research the latest on an area of science I am particularly interested I and cannot wait to see the possibilities for. As opposed to just reading about predicted possibilities and using ones imagination to conjure up possibilities.

The other thing to ote is that there are just so many possibilities and it would be great to see them come in a whole groups. Hopefully there will be a documentary regarding each area at some point or at least I hope someone has the foresight to at least create one?

AUGMENTATIONS ..

  • Prosthetic limbs
  • Bionic limbs
  • Augmentations
  • Transhumanism

In the meantime and for further reading take a look at Manchester University's site ..

THE TALE OF TWO DIMENSIONALS

I took a look at Graphene again by looking at a number of YouTube videos.

I had wondered from the outset of the discovery of Graphene that there may well be other materials that have strange and useful structures in thicknesses in single numbers when it comes to atoms

I also wondered whether or not that in other materials it may not be required to be one atom thick and that a transformation in the structures of materials with two or more atoms?

Questioned that about thicknesses of more than one atom before … probably will have a very long wait before I hear anything about that, if indeed at all?

Graphene in Manchester 2004 ...

  • Lightest Material
  • Strongest Material
  • Harder than Diamond
  • 300x Stronger than Steel
  • Flexible
  • Clear

I originally read that they found Graphene accidentally using a food mixer. I now understand that this was wrong and that the isolated Graphene using sticky tape or Scotch tape by continuously pulling apart the layers until there is one layer of atoms left.

Other two dimensional materials being researched are ...

  • NbSe2 or Niobium and Selenium.
  • Boron-Nitride
  • MgB2 or Magnesium diboride.

God only knows how many others are being looked at or have already been found I have yet to read about?

In fact there are a whole load being looked into because Graphene seems to have imperfections that make it hard to impossible to make a CPU chip out of, sad to hear...

I am astounded only in that they have found useful properties in other 2 dimensional materials already but then if I was a scientist that had access to a laboratory and equipment, I would have experimented with other two dimensional materials immediately.

I watched the following ...

Then I moved on to the Materials Research Society on YouTube.

Eventually I found that there were no less than eleven materials that have been manipulated into thicknesses of just one atom. Though I have to admit that they are also talking about combinations of atoms in two dimensional form and I do not see how that works out to be a single layer of atoms as two atoms bonded together is more than one atom. Unless they stay bonded but just flattened out into ever more unusual forms? Yes this must be it and why they are still talking about two dimensional materials?

Not that it matters because it is very interesting and not forgetting very cool.

This is one of two breakthroughs in science that I am extremely keen to see how the development goes. Just a shame that things are the way they are for me and very slow and boring while development in these materials is going to inevitably slow too.

Two damned slow boats drifting out towards China.

I am particularly interested to see how these technologies will effect space travel. I how Graphene would handle being hit my micrometeorites? Or a craft built out of thin titanium wrapped in Graphene?

I wonder how each of the other materials will compare to Graphene? Will they find metrials or compounds that in two dimensional form are better than Graphene? After all Graphene was simply the first two dimensional material discovered. The odds are good that as each is researched we could find things that exceed Graphene in certain areas. One that is as strong but also stiff, for instance?

So they have discovered that Graphene can have imperfections? First I have heard of this but I am also surprised to see the word 'Silicene' which is obviously a single layer of Silicon atoms.

INTENSE SCIENCE

During the time I was ... umm ... freaking out and having several breakdowns, an understatement, I tried to keep myself occupied and ... well learning.

Any that realised or noted in previous emails that I was doing this might wonder just what it might be that interests me on YouTube.

YouTube can be a funny place. I sometimes end up viewing videos that are full of crackpot conspiracy theories, that get so many views it is unbelievable. YouTube then decides I must be into that and ends up recommending me more of that crap. Sometimes you do not realise until you start watching.

Other times I click on a video about quantum computers and it ends up being some religious nut explaining how the theoretical physicists at either the D Wace company or them at the Large Hadron Collider are going to open up the gates of hell and let demons and Satan out or create Terminator like androids that will exterminate the human race.

Ooh boy.

What is very bizarre about this is some of the nuts are actually likeable ones and one even seemed like he would be a nice guy to sit down and chat with. Now what was his name? Paul something?

Paul Adams! I just checked. Lol. Long haired dude with glasses.

Now one guy I come across recently and openly  talks about his own problems with an axiety disorder, though you would never guess watching him, is Joe Scott.

Here is a video of him speaking about the Bootes Void, an empty area in the universe that astrophysicists do not understand.

Now you start talking about this subject you have to step into the subatomic world, quantum mechanics, and that is something I am interested in. Around 70 percent of more of the matter in the universe is missing and they call it dark matter.

Now I thought that there were far more planets, comets and asteroids roaming around in deep space both interstellar and intergalactic space and this would account for missing matter? But scientists do not even mention that. I have wondered whether or not they have gotten antimatter wrong and that it behaves in different ways to what we think and this is out there and we cannot see it. Another possibility is ultra high and dense build up of neutrinos or some other quantum particle.

The fact is they we cannot even measure how things go on in interstellar space because Voyager, 2 is it, is barely there now. Probably they are thinking of instruments even now they would like to have been put on Voyager.

So how could we possibly predict what space is like between galaxies? Also the space between galaxies and especially in the parts that are racing away from us that is an impressive percentage of the speed of light?

My God even Pluto gave us a whole list of surprises just recently and ones I will certainly never forget! We could not possibly begin to even think about what goes on further out. they even think there is another large planet in our solar system five times the mass of Earth and further out than Pluto?! We are seeing planets in other star systems, will be launching a couple of things that will see exoplanets better and there is a race on now to find another planet around our solar system?!

It is madness, I tell yah! Lol.

Anyway here is Joe Scott talking about the Bootes Void...

I have watched a fair few of his videos and the smart alec even came up with a pill that stops you get mouth ulcers! Or umm ... what did he call them ... oh yeah canker sores.

I have also been watching a fair few videos of Doctor Who's uncle the Mad Chemist!

If your into chemistry you will absolutely love this guy! If you do though ... be warned ... he has more videos than the atomic numbers of the periodic table added together! Lol.

Did I mention that I was into quantum mechanics and interesting in quantum computing? Lol.

I have mentioned that quantum computers have been built and sold in recent posts to Lockheed Martin, Google in conjunction with NASA and the Large Hadron Collider at Cern, likely among others. That company is called D:Wave and here is a guy doing a speech about it ...

If you listen far enough in to parts where he explains how powerful they are compared to the computers as we know them today you will be blown away.

Our normal computers today are know commonly referred to as classical computers by theoretical physicists and those working with quantum computers. In fact you and I are referred to as classical ... or the way they put it as the big normal would as we know is is the classical world, Everything works in the way that we expect them to.

But in the quantum world things get a little ... strange. I know what these subatomic particles do and they know what they do. But no one can fully explain it. They know how they behave but they do not know why.

They do not operate in the classical way that we think of and are so used to in our daily lives.

Being into computer tech I watch computer tech guys doing their stuff and reviewing new things and one of those I watch from time to time is JayzTwoCents ... hmm did I get that right? Wow! Yes I did!

He is somewhat comical and I like watching his reviews.

There us a series called The Big Think that features different scientists answering certain questions out to them. About humanity, society and its future along with quantum mechanics and the universe.

Michio Kaku appears in many and I admire him along with a few other famous names I like and I just spotted that Stephen fry appears in one? I could mention many other names like Brian Greene, Bill Nye, no not Bill Nigh but he is cool as well.

Back in the world of computing and gaming is a guy called Joker and his channel Joker Productions ..

Oh and I fascinated to see what they do with Graphene ...

I think that Graphene and working Quantum Computers combined are going to change a great many things over the next few years. I think you will see some very exciting things and I have a few predictions myself.

Normal CPUs formed out of graphene for one. From frames on mountain bikes to many other things besides. Also they seem to be finding a way to produce Titanium a lot cheaper too?

A sheet of graphene, like from your humble pencil, at one atom thick is strong enough to hold a pencil. One atom thick it might even look invisible to the naked eye at that thickness?

Let us hope I am around long enough to be other witness them and enjoy them?

THE REALITIES OF A PERCEIVED EXISTENCE

I am suddenly questioning reality. No, really I mean literally.

Soon after pulling out of watching a sickening conspiracy video that left me sick to my stomach I got back to the subject I have focused on of late. That of quantum mechanics.

This was a subject I wanted to get into for some time now. I worked with a solicitor who was a friend and he got into it, purchased a book and once finished gave it to me. I never got around to reading it. I did get a quick description from him of how it works down the level of an atom which … was close but not quite right.

It was explained that there was up spin, down spin and spinning both ways at once and this stuck in my mind for several years.

I took two things from this description …

  • That a transistor would now shrink be several factors down to that of an atom (which was a big deal in itself)
  • That instead of just two states, 1 and 0, you now had a third

If that has made you say “Wow, what?!” well you read that right. Except the truth is weirder than that. Sub-atomic particles like that of electrons can exist in several places at once. That is until you measure them. They are a wave until they are measured and then become a particle. Like hearing a Mosquito at night and you think its on the left, switch on the light and it is on the right. The first proof of this was a simple test that anyone could do known as the double slit experiment.

You wanna know what is really going on? Well though because no one knows, lol. They just know that it does.

So the spinning both ways at the same time was not … precisely correct.

One theory is that the particles that behave this way are leaping from one dimension to another and back again in a different place to that they were in when they blinked out of existence on our plane of reality.

It is one theory.

String theory works on the basis that there are different realities that exist on membranes or branes for short. I used to think that these might have something to do with the frequency that all particles vibrate.

We also now know that the vacuum of space is not … exactly right either but this I am not that surprised about.

I have wondered that in spacetime as we know it particles have to be of a certain size or mass to … well, exist in it. Maybe that strings, of energy, themselves exist outside of it. That which exists, or indeed does not exist, outside of spacetime. That the process that may have started the big bang actually started several and that is how the different membranes came into existence. If they exist. Separated by vibration frequencies or another something else?

That is just me at times in the past when my mind has wandered.

Now that I have watched enough documentaries I am starting to think that the three values to be stored by a single atom was … underestimated a little.

This known fact of these sub-atomic particles existing in multiple places at once, or at least as we currently understand it, is known as a superposition, which is a pretty good description really.

What I saw tonight though and learnt was something that is going to blow the minds of every single person I know.

Oh and one other one I have to look into in more depth.

This one is straight out of one of the most favourite and famous sci-fi movies of all time.

The Matrix.

The theory?

That we are living in a simulation?!

In all honesty I had mixed feelings when I heard that one as if true … they could at least fix my fecking Fibromyalgia, or I mean to say the kink in the central nervous system in the base of my neck that causes the damned condition and its 100 plus symptoms.

You see where I am coming from?

However this speaker, cannot recall his name, speaking at a university in Manchester, stated something that was very true … several things in fact.

  • Not that long ago we was playing Pong video games
  • Today we play in worlds that look remarkably like a 3D world
  • Virtual Reality is about to take off
  • Now imagine what the reality of video game simulations will be lie in just twenty or thirty years?

In other words it will not be long before … you will not be able to tell a simulated world from the real world.

Sooo … maybe we are already in one?

How about we get a little weirder while your heads is still spinning?

Maybe … the ones controlling us are themselves in a simulation controlled by others?

Noodle cooked yet?

You might well be wondering what in the hell else I heard I need to look into a greater depth?

Oh just a little detail about a scientist who was looming at the maths behind the smaller details of reality, string theory, that noticed computer code created ages ago that is used in web browsers. Dr James Gates Jr, that was his name. Still trying to remember new names in all this, Brian Greene is pretty easy to remember.

I think I can smell something burning? Yup, your noodles definitely over cooked now! Lol.

What with quantum computers being fully functioning now and many working on them all over the globe with more no doubt following things are going to get very strange before very long.

What these new powerful computers will lead is to is anyone's guess.

Strange then that we live in a world where some very bizarre people are in power and we treat each other the way that we do?

Another thing that was mentioned was transhumanism were we upload our minds into a computer, though he spoke as if we would not actually be mobile in these computers. I have a sneaky suspicion that robotics and androids will be in a surprisingly advanced state in ten or twenty years too.

We also have Graphene too and all the things that will lead to in the following ten years and the search for unusual properties that other elements might by hiding if forced into single atoms slices or other shapes or thicknesses? I mean carbon turns into Graphene when one atom thick and others may do two or at two or three atoms thick or arranged in particular shapes?

It is thinking about these things that keeps me going at times and puts my other .. currently ongoing issues into perspective. Yeaah does sound a bit like an understatement that.

Ooh yeah, I forgot about that other study going on about the human consciousness, or soul if you prefer and the fact that they think they have an answer to that, or on the verge of a breakthrough.

I also wonder about the timing of all this?

When the financial crisis going on globally started one of the things I stated to a friend of mine, I will have to remember to remind him of what I said and this posts subjects, is that we would need a … push. A eureka moment. Something … new to get everyone motivated again. A breakthrough and wow product, or set of products or new horizon to aim for. Until this happens things might remain .. well, stuck in the mud so to speak.

We are primates and need to be entertained and don't I know it?! Things have become somewhat miserable and a little bit boring. Added to this people are feeling threatened to due to changes handled badly and you have a pressure cooker about to go off.

These few things might be it … just that they are at least ten years off is all. Lol. Maybe five for one or two but they certainly all will not come together for at least ten years.

I will likely read, listen and learn all this and then get that letter that tells me it was all a waste?

Confusing times indeed.

A LECTURE ON PLANKS

First up before I move onto the subjects of this blog I need to make an apology.

While out today I suddenly realised that I had not rounded up that last post correctly and in my defense I was doing it at 3.30am after not being able to lseep yet again and then suddenly got tired out of the blue!

So I was speaking about the wonder material Graphene and computer chips along with the fact I need to build a new one! I also stated that the tiny transistoirs and pipeline in silicon chips measure somewhere between 20 and 40 atoms across but I could be remember that measurement incorrectly I admit.

Now what I failed to explain is that they have been hitting problems getting that size down further resulting in more heat. This was not the case previously which is why long ago it was about increasing the MHz, the frequency of the clocked speed of the processor measured in switching each second with 1MHz meaning one million cycles, and now its about cores and power consumption while the clock speed has not moved on much in the last 5 years, which seems to have stagnated between 3GHz and 4GHz with 5GHz only achievable in overclocking, meaning more heat. Oh and yes the GHz means 1,000 million cyles per second meaning a billion if your American. Lol! Oh an yes that is multuplied by how many cores you have. Yadda, yadda, yadda …

I also briefly mention quantum computing and that an single atom can hold three values, based on the direction the atom is spinning which can be left, right or both! Yes trust me on this and the very essense or base of quantum mechanics is based on this discovery that atoms can spin in two direction at once! The best way to describe it in a laymans and therefore understandible way is to imagine two intangible atoms occupying the same space with one spinning one way and the other spinning the other. Trust me when I say they are still trying to fully understand this. Whether this reveals something to do with anti-matter (I very much doubt), dark matter (I doubt even more) or something they are working on in Cern with the God particles (Bosons) or Quarks or some such remains to be seen.

If it was possible to take all current microchips and provide all transistors with the capability of having one extra value each to store it may not sound like much but let me tell you that this would result in a phenomenal leap!

Now if I then remind you the reader that currently measurements in chips is at a few dozen atoms across …

Then I remind you that Graphene is as strong as steel when created but that this is one atom thick which arranges itself into a honeycomb pattern and why it is so tough!

Now take micropchip design, graphene and quantum computing and mix them all up in a cooking pot and the results could be something quite startling and possibly head headlines for a long time!

Imagine a suit you cpould wear that is flexible and yet as strong as steel?!

There is a reason that the largest househol names in technology from every part of the globe queued up to buy the rights to manufacture this stuff themselves. I cannot remember all the names but they were all there and Samsung was one and all other big names like them all signd up to the stuff!

Quite unfortuanetly and for a load of reasons, some selfish by idiots that are military leaders and governments and other pratts, our technology along with many other things has stagnated in recent years. That has now become a rpimary issue is the problems we have now and the world needs a few leaps and a few wow factors to give it a boot up the arse. It also needs several areas of people to hold their hands up and accept that times have changed and that there way of life is now outdated and in need of something new. Nope sorry twats, no getting around it if your reading this as you all own horses but forgotten the very oldest saying that involves your equine friends. You can LEAD a horse …

LOL!

Well I can actualy but thats because when I was around horses a lot I had a completely different set of training to that of 95% of English riders which is all arse about face and wrong. Well from what I saw at any rate and indeed I was often asked how in the hell I managed to do things with horses that I did. Because someone that understands them used to tell me and show me, that is how!

Well that is the finishing up done and today I had to go on the hunt for food for my animals as my usual source had run dry. Weather crap and upon leaving the house it felt cold and I wondered about taking a light jacket but knew that I would end up too hot and left it. I struggled a bit at times and I was struck down by a pain in an area I had not experienced before directly below my left knee! It struck like lightning several times and I nearly ended up on the floor in a market nearby!

After about 30 minutes it seemed to pass and I was hoping it was a one off and not a new pain that will eventually return lead to an increase in frequency as this would be too bloody much!!As I was worrying about this possibility I realised I was boiling hot and sweating and yet the weather had remained the same. I was cursing my condition and thinkiong I fecking KNEW this would happen and good job I did not put a jacket on!

On arriving home I had a call on my mobile from an unknown number and I really do not like answering these as it is always an idiot asking for money that fai.s to understand the basic principles of mathematics combined with reality?!

It was whoevcer now owneed the Student Loans Company asking to set up a direct debit despite me telling them umpteen times that the problems remain the same, none of which are to do with me but the government, told her how I had been taken to court twice and they had lost and my condition along with the question the Parliamentary Health Services Ombudsman asked me.

The lady actually was quite helpulf after stating this which was in complete contrast to every other correspondence. She also admitted that she had no information regarding what I stated and said that it could not have been passed on by the SLC?!

Hmm sounds like a bunch of liars sold a big concern to another greedy bunch of liars and lied to them about certain … FACTS?!

Hmm … another possible news story for sometime in the future do you think?!

Of course the Students Loan Company waqs orginally government owned and was sold off AFTER I got my degree. So the owners may realise before long that things were not forthcoming on certain aspects of people's accounts and that they bought this … concern when a long term recession was right up the road along with the fact that the government stopped filling in the forms for you! Part of an agreement so the new owners can send bai;liffs to your door?!

LMAO!

Oh yes and I told her about the bailiffs and I said that companies llike jers were utter morons, because bailiffs make more out of their victims than the companies they represent there simply is no point to taking anyone to court who has had bailiffs round as they would have taken everything and left nothing for no one else.

I could tell her realisation of this reality was a problem that no one had considered. She will probably think tonight that companies like hers have actually managed to screw everything up by simply breaking a few laws and turning a blind eye so that they get something. Meaning the only people that have actually benefit are not even the public services who have failed to realise but by their own actions have wasted loads of money chasing ghosts because all poseessions have been taken and sold by those they hired to beat the crap out of you to get your stuff!

YEAHHH I could have explained it that simply to the councils and any others that do this …; but then WHERE IS THE FUN IN THAT?!

Or to put it another way … I like to spend a long time going around the houses to ecplain things by actually handing over on a silver platter all the clues to them strike at a later date to make them look the utter incompetent idiots that they are!

Why has it all gone wrong by using the current methods?! I can simply answer that with a very old saying. AN old saying that you will immediately state is true and have heard for years. Only when I first heard this saying I said … Oh dear! That will not end well, let me tell you that for nothing. Understand that when you are reminded of this saying it realise it is true for a long time simply remember that I say this … that this is why you have complete morons in important high paid positions and why the fell they have the right to huge sums of money even though they have proven themselves to the world they are idiots.

I will now give you a clue that theyt not only do not need to study for bloody years like I did but make a mockery of almost all higher educations!

If you have not managed to work it out, as I was rambling on with clues to see if you suddenly realise what that old saying is I refer to then it is …

It is NOT WHAT you know, but WHO YOU KNOW!

I never dreamed how all these old sayings would become so very useful to me eventually to show everyone up as the greedy incompetent morons that lack any basic fundamental knowledge nor common sense and you can completely forget wisdom!

LMAO. I rest my case! For now!
